Top 11 Fun Things I"m Determined to DO in Hawaii!

Yesterday, one of my 11 reasons I love being a military wife is the opportunity to make the most of every place we go. Somehow, my husbanded landed a much coveted duty station—Hawaii! Now, while I wasn’t totally excited at first, I am loving it here. Due to some circumstances beyond our control, we haven’t actually been able to get out and do much, but boy do we have a list!

1. Island-hop. There are like 125 islands that make up the Hawaii chain. While I don’t intend to visit that many, I do want to visit Maui and the Big Island.

2. Spend a day out at Diamond-head.

3. Take a leisurely drive around the entire island (except for the one little part where there’s no roads).

4. Take in an official luau.

5. Visit the Polynesian Cultural Center.

6. Visit the Dole Plantation.

7. Have a weekend with my hubby at the Hale Koa.

8. Spend a day at Pearl Harbor.

9. Visit the zoo and the aquarium.

10. One day, when I have more stamina, I want to go on one of the several beautiful hikes.

11. This one I’m almost embarrassed to say I haven’t done yet—hit the Stadium Swap Meet!

There are several other things we plan to do while we’re here, but these are what I’m most excited about. We have 2 ½ years left here, so plenty of time to take it all in! What do you want to do where you are? (even if you’ve been there for years!)

Ralene’s BeachFest Trivia Question:
For what website am I the newborn/baby blogger? Hmm…

  1. That sounds like an awesome list! I want to do those as well, I've checked a few of them off.. Like the weekend at the Hale Koa, the swap meet, island drive and the PCC but there is so much more to do! Isn't it amazing? We are so lucky!

  2. My husband was stationed in HI for 5 years before I met him!! He wants me to visit there with him too! I would love to go see the Pearl Harbor Memorial more than anything...and would LOVE to the see the aquarium!! I love them. We'll see where we go to next...might be HI!! :) Thanks for sharing.

  3. Nice! My husband went to Hawaii as a kid. I want to visit!

We live in the U.P. of Michigan--a 14 hour drive from our family--but we love it! The winters are a bit long, but skiing and snowmobiling makes up for that. :)

  4. Anon--We are so lucky!

Jessica--I really want to see the Pearl Harbor Memorial as well. The aqarium isn't as big as you would think, only takes an hour at the MOST to go through from what I've heard. Still, I'll bet it's a bit different from other aquariums.

Titus--When we were in KS, we were 8 hrs from hubby's family, and 16 from mine. Still that's a lot better than a 12 hr plane ride! That's def the one thing I really don't like about Hawaii.

  5. Aloha! I'd love to be there .... sounds like fun!

  6. I would definitely love to VISIT Hawaii and you make it sound almost livable to me. I hope you'll be able to see and visit everything you want to. Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. Been to Maui, Diamond Head, the aquarium, the Pearl Harbor Memorial and the Dole Plantation. Be careful about eating too much pineapple while you're there! I got canker sores from all the citrus. If you fail to heed my warning, take a lot of Lysine. It helps.

  8. You won!!! Email me with your mailing address please, ma'am!

  9. Jhona--if u make it this way in the next 3 yrs...let me know. I'll show you around. lol

Robynn--don't eat too much pineapple--duly noted.

    Pattie--EEEEEk! Thank you, thank you!
